Performance

The 2019 Volvo XC40 is available in Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription trims powered by a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder direct-injected turbocharged engine paired with an 8-speed Geartronic™ automatic transmission. This powerful engine churns out 187-hp and 221 lb.-ft. of torque. Available on the R-Design trim is a 248-hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque turbocharged four-cylinder engine featuring an all-wheel drivetrain. The XC40 earns an estimated 36 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the city.

Technology

The roomy cabin of the Volvo XC40 includes standard technology features such as a 9-inch Sensus infotainment touchscreen that lets you access apps, entertainment, and navigation as well as a 12.3-inch digital driver display that shows phone calls, temperature and drive modes. Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility allow you to get directions, make calls and listen to music through the 330-watt high-performance audio system with 8 speakers, both standard.

Safety

Volvo’s City Safety comes standard and warns you if a collision is imminent with vehicles, pedestrians, or other objects and will brake automatically if necessary. Other standard safety features include oncoming lane mitigation, lane keeping aid, road sign information, and run-off-road mitigation. Included in all trims is WHIPS™, Volvo’s unique whiplash protection system, which helps reduce the risk of whiplash injury. Volvo designed the entire front seat backrest and head restraint to move with the occupant to support the neck if the car is hit from behind. Available is Pilot Assist which keeps a set speed and distance to the vehicle in front of you, helps keep you in the center of the lane, and reads the scheduled route from the navigation system.
